Hanover Real Estate and Homes for Sale

As a real estate agent who specializes in Hanover, let me be your guide to what Hanover Ontario has to offer as a neighbourhood to finding homes for sale in the area.

For a town of only 7,500 residents, the town of Hanover is a great location for your next home. The town is situated along the Saugeen River between Walkerton and Durham in the southern portion of Grey County. It marks the border between Bruce and Grey Counties and is also southern Grey County’s urban centre with its many restaurants and retail shops, and a variety of small businesses. Basically, Hanover is a rural town with an urban atmosphere.

Although it was once the home of a major furniture manufacturer, Hanover has evolved into one of Ontario’s manufacturing hubs. The town offers a wide assortment of activity and entertainment venues. Whether your preference is attending sporting events, getting involved in a community cultural group, spending some quiet time in a public library, or watching movies at the Paramount theatre, there is plenty to see and do in this township (Hanover is also the location of one of Ontario’s last remaining drive-in theatres).

The two primary sources of employment are factories and farms. However, the following is a list of some of the major businesses that call this town home (Dickies Canada, Hanover Racetrack Slots, Horizon Poultry, New-Life Mills Limited, P & H Foods and West Bros. Furniture Manufacturing).

Suffice it to say, Hanover is in good economic shape compared to other cities and towns in Ontario Province as well as throughout the country.

Where outdoor activities are concerned, golfing enthusiasts will enjoy playing at either of the two local courses, sports fans can root for their local minor league hockey team (Hanover Barons). If you prefer activities on the water, the Saugeen River runs through town and offers some of Ontario’s finest canoeing venues, as well as excellent salmon and trout fishing. Come visit Hanover today and envision the lifestyle you and your family can have by living in one of the city’s classic homes or one of its newer subdivisions.
